We are very pleased to announce that the Government's Inspector dismissed the appeal for planning permission for houses in the woodland behind Blenheim Road in Caversham.
Thames Ward Councillor David Stevens said, 'I am delighted that the application has been dismissed on appeal. Thames Ward Councillors have always maintained that if RBC is serious about its green strategy it cannot allow building on patches of woodland such as this. We are pleased that the planning inspector supported this view.'
And Thames Ward Councillor Paul Carnell who wrote a statement to the appeal in support of his residents added, 'I'm delighted that the planning appeal upheld the decision of the planning committee to refuse permission to develop the land behind Blenheim Road. The decision means many of the people of Blenheim Road will be sleeping easier in their beds. The decision defends the character and appearance of Blenheim Road and further shows the importance of green spaces around reading.'
