Reading East MP Rob Wilson is moving with his boss Jeremy Hunt to the Department of Health.
Rob was parliamentary private secretary to Mr Hunt for two years during his time as Secretary of State for Culture. Rob has worked closely with Jeremy Hunt and there is a strong bond between the Secretary of State and his PPS.
The minister was given the position of health secretary in David Cameron's Cabinet reshuffle yesterday. Mr Hunt and his team will be responsible for driving forward the controversial NHS reforms.
Rob said: "I'm very excited about it. It's a massive department compared to the department for culture, media and sport.
"We are sorting out exactly what my job will entail. It won't be quite the same as I had in the DCMS although I will still be PPS. I've been asked to take on more responsibility. We have got a massive job to explain our reforms and to deliver them so it's a really exciting department and project to be involved in."
Rob turned down the offer of a post in the Chief Whip's office several weeks ago because he believes it is important for an MP representing a town like Reading to be able to speak up in the House on a regular basis and although that was possible when he served as an opposition whip he couldn't do that if he was a government whip.
