A new road in Woodley has been named Henderson Close in memory of Kathleen Henderson who was a Conservative town and district councillor and chaired Woodley Town Council from 1990. She was a Vice President of the Association until her death aged 77 in 2009.
Reading East Association Chairman Alison Swaddle said " Kathleen was a true Conservative who never hesitated to get involved and do her best to make a difference. She devoted years of service to a variety of community groups in Woodley.
She was a valued advisor who gave Woodley Conservatives huge support and is sorely missed. I'm delighted that the Town Council have recognised her immense contribution to the town and that she will be permanently remembered in this way. Thanks to Conservative Group Leader Cllr Kate Haines as it was her motion to the Town Council in 2009 that began this."
