Councillors Jane Stanford-Beale (Association Chair) and Clare Grashoff have been out and about helping The Conservation Volunteers to plant new trees and remove winter vegetation in North Reading. The Conservation Volunteers have a 3.5 year project in Reading funded by Network Rail to mitigate any removal of habitat brought about by railway upgrades. Last week they were concentrating on tree planting and Snowberry removal in Bugs Bottom, this week they were in Clayfield Copse cutting back brambles which were strangling the Ash and Hawthorn trees in the secondary woodland there. They will also be doing work in the coming weeks in Tilehurst at Lousehill Copse, in Woodley at Highwood Nature Reserve and in Maidenhead at Ockwells Nature Reserve.
