As the National No to AV campaign stepped up a gear in London on Monday, local Conservatives went to a sunny Forbury Gardens to launch their own No to AV campaign
Reading East MP Rob Wilson was joined by Borough and Town Councillors from Reading and Earley and conservative members and supporters to voice their oppostion to the Alternative Vote referendum. The Association is backing the No campaign believing It is crucial that people vote No to AV in the referendum on May 5th. Not only is it unfair but it is also expensive, discredited and doesn't work.Chairman Alison Swaddle said: " I have been contacted by many local people who are very concerned about AV. The Alternative Vote will fail our democracy. It is fundamentally unfair as some people will see their vote counted many times, whereas under our current system everyone gets one vote."
