Rob hopes to repeat the success of his April fair on Thursday 15th September, when Rob's Reading Job Fair opens at the Penta Hotel on Oxford Road. The larger venue will play host to employers including the National Grid, AWE and The Oracle, just some of the almost thirty companies which have confirmed attendance already. While most exhibitors will be trying to fill full-time positions, training, internships and work experience will also be on offer.
Rob said: "The fair is a great opportunity for those wanting work to meet with companies wanting to employ people. There are national companies, local businesses and training services attending, offering something for everyone."
Tesco was unveiled as a major exhibitor at the forthcoming Reading Job Fair with the promise of over 1,000 jobs on offer at its new distribution centre.
Rob was joined by Maxine Crawford, Regional Corporate Affairs Manager for Tesco, at the company’s Napier Road store to announce their attendance. Tesco will also be running workshops on the job opportunities available in a distribution centre.
Ms Crawford said: "Tesco is delighted to have been invited to exhibit at the Reading Job Fair. If planning permission is granted later this year for a distribution centre, we will recruit approximately 1000 staff next year. The majority of these staff will be local people. The job fair is a great opportunity to demonstrate the jobs likely to be available.
“Tesco will also be conducting workshop's which will present what it is like working for Tesco distribution, skills required, training and much more".
Rob said: “We are delighted to have Tesco onboard for the Job Fair. It is a major employer in the Reading area, that is likely to be offering a wealth of new opportunities to local people in the near future. This is a fabulous opportunity for all those interested in working for Tesco to come along and register their interest.
“We are also pleased that Tesco has offered to host two workshops on working in warehousing and distribution. I would encourage all jobseekers in my constituency to come along and find out what careers might be available to them.”
Reading Job Fair is on September 15 at the Penta Hotel from 10am to 5pm. The event is backed by Reading CIC and Jobcentre Plus.

Around 1,600 jobseekers poured through the doors of the Penta Hotel in Reading Town Centre for the Reading Job Fair yesterday.
The Job Fair, organised by Rob in partnership with Reading UK CIC and Jobcentre Plus, drew in crowds of jobseekers looking for an opportunity to speak to employers and had over their CVs.
Among the 40 companies exhibiting at the Fair was Tesco, which is brining 1,000 jobs to a new disctribution site near Madejski Stadium, and food distributor Brakes, which is opening a warehouse in Suttons Business Park, creating 500 jobs.
Both companies ran workshops on the new opportunities, attracting 200 jobseekers. Workshops on hospitality run by the Penta Hotel were also popular.
Feedback from jobseekers was overwhelmingly positive, and all companies reported receiving many applications during the course of the day.
