On 11th January 2016, a local woman crossing Prospect Street using the zebra crossing was struck by a truck and sustained life-threatening injuries.
Many residents are concerned about the regularity of near-misses here.
Support our campaign calling on Reading Borough Council for an urgent review to improve safety. Ed Hogan has set up an online petition and is urging all local residents to add their support.
Thank you to the local residents and business owners who joined Rob Wilson MP on Friday at the zebra crossing on Prospect Street in Caversham.
Many concerned local people had contacted Rob directly this week to share their experiences of the crossing so he asked them to come along, with the local media, to support our campaign calling on Reading Borough Council to urgently review safety for pedestrians crossing this busy street.
The invitation was limited as it wouldn't have been safe to have a larger group on the pavement.
We want to urge everyone to encourage friends and family to sign the petition and help local campaigner Ed Hogan, Caversham ward councillor Claire McDonald and Rob Wilson MP to keep up the pressure on the Council.
Rob has yet to receive a response to his letter to RBC calling again for action to review and improve safety.
