Woodley Conservative Cllr Shahid Younis is delighted that Wokingham Borough Council's Executive tonight approved a long awaited multi million investment into The Bulmershe School in Woodley. Elected this year, Shahid lobbied hard for more funding and he pledged increased council support and investment in local education.
“I hope the Lib Dem Councillors in Woodley will join me in congratulating the Head and Governors on the school's hard work putting together this business plan. Lib Dems doubted this significant investment but I knew that Rob Stanton and the Council Executive were absolutely committed that Bulmershe should become an outstanding local school. It was good to hear so many Conservative councillors speak in support of the investment plan."
Shahid said, "It's great the Council are supporting Head teacher Peter Lewis and his team. Their impressive business plan will make Bulmershe an attractive learning environment, will change local perceptions about the school but, most importantly, increase the pace of improvement in teaching and learning."
“I applaud the school's aim that every teacher will deliver good or outstanding teaching and this £6M investment will enable staff to continue to boost academic achievement."
"Woodley Conservatives believe that our children have high aspirations and deserve the best education."
As Bulmershe Whitegates Ward Councillor Shahid meets many parents and he is confident that local misconceptions about the school will be shattered and Bulmershe will become the school of choice.
