At the recent Wokingham Borough Council meeting on 24th February Conservative campaigner Bill Soane stood up for local residents to ask that all S 106 (developers contributions) relating to the Sandford Farm development be used in Woodley. Bill also asked that local residents and local organisations be consulted before any decision is made, and that there should be no influence from any political group be it Town or Borough.
Bill Soane said “ I was pleased to hear that £200,000 will be contributed by the developer for community infrastructure and to receive assurance that this needs to be related to the development therefore be spent in and around Woodley.
A stakeholder consultation and a system of governance is being created to ensure that this is done with appropriate community input; which may include the creation by the Borough Council of a Town Community Forum.
Bill Soane says “I will be watching the results of this consultation closely and would welcome and work with a Town Community Forum, to ensure that the residents of Woodley benefit from this contribution and it is used in the most effective way. “
