Conservatives from across Berkshire were out in force to support Saturday's Reading Pride parade and festival.
The Conservatives have had a presence at Reading Pride since its inception in 2003 and a group of Conservative members from Reading East, Reading West, Wokingham and West Berkshire joined the parade through the town centre for the eleventh consecutive year. Reading Pride has a great reputation as a very friendly and welcoming celebration of diversity. It’s a fantastic event for everyone in Reading as it successfully promotes equality whilst raising awareness.
Reading East MP Rob Wilson joined thousands of local visitors at the festival in Kings Meadow. He toured the festival site and talked to many visitors and stall holders. At the British Heart Foundation stall he learnt about their health awareness campaigning and had his blood pressure measured and found to be very healthy. Rob also met staff from the South Central Ambulance Service and discussed the fight against hate crime with officers from Thames Valley Police.
At the Conservative stall, Rob congratulated former Conservative Group Leader Tim Harris who was proudly displaying the two Gay Games gold medals he recently won in Cleveland USA.
Rob commented “Reading Pride was again a success. Reading East Conservatives are pleased to be involved with the event and we had a great afternoon listening to the views of residents."
